stalking

of monsters and men(+women too!)

had a nice jc-class gathering @ magarithas off east coast road @ the junction of telok kurau (k k i was suaned last nite for not giving precise directions :P )
anyway we had fun, good spicy(poor me!) food and we came to the topic of pickup lines and horror stories. My fren (guy) had a very scary horror story of a somewat.. obsessive female fren. Its pretty scary.

Coupled with all the other stalker/psycho stories i've been hearing all year, it makes me wonder why on earth do pple "snap" like that or get to a point where the world to them is normal but to everyone else is rather warped behavior. I mean "hello?" no means no. get away dun mean come closer. that kinda stuff?

i guess sometimes they r so into it that they cant help themselves bah... but sometimes these pple shld look in on themselves and ask "why do these pple that i pursue always avoid me?" they shld realise though that when there's somewat of a trend going on (i.e. the pple u have interest in always cringe in fear when they see u) and analyse that if the common factor in all occurances is YOU, then there might be just something missing.

Then again usually these people are quite full of themselves so wun be able to see...

should invent a bat that you can bonk these people on the head instead.. :p

Bloooooopers

nothing perks me up from a bad day like a good blooper reel :)

*teary eyed from all that laughing*

Tango

shall we tango ?

so we had our 1st tango lesson today. many peeps not ard :( but it still good fun nevertheless. luckily we had majority else i dun tink the class would have started.

Was pretty interesting but its like learning salsa 101 all over again. We have to lead with our chest.. somewat like project a presence forward, an intention. WHich is TOTALLY different from leading in salsa via hands and more physical signals. Tango is surprisingly more subtle yet firm.

must change my mindset sia :P

Uberburger

Uberburger

Sat went to have lunch @ this place @ millienia walk after Al's workshops. Wow they sell a sgd$101 burger ! made from the jap finest beef (marble grade some more). heheh ... interesting sia. For sgd$101 the beef burger i eat better like send me to the moon or make me wet my pants there and then :) I tried the cheaper sgd$32 alternative. It was really quite good. Juicy. Beefy. The deco was interesting too though the BLOOD RED toilet was a little too much. Like some horror movie flick where pple regularly die there...

on another note, the workshops r pretty interesting. I especially enjoyed the tricks and dips workshop. Did 3 interesting dips and i hope to implement them soon! :p

waiting and hoping

waiting and hoping and wishing

worse part of starting something. where your inner demons torment and toy with your hopes and dreams. where occasionally your inner angels manages to paint a rainbow in your mind.

For all the optimism that i show throughout my life, i am inherently a bit apprehensive when it comes to my own self. As in, I never really regard myself as a catch / charmer / suave / sophisticated etc. Thus when it comes to matters of the heart and the opposite sex, i never really tot of myself as someone desirable. Even though i've been though somewat of a transformation last year, the lingering doubt of myself still exists and serves to "play" with me. Especially nowadays...

how to ressolve?
a single word will suffice
failing that, good friends, great wine/beer/liquor and lotsa desserts helps too :p

my cubicle

my cubicle

Check this out... http://jclement.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/song-cubicle.mp3

its a song about a sad life working 8-4 in a cubicle.. spoof of James Blunt's YOur're Beautiful.

Funny stuff yet at the same time so sad and so true for so many pple out there..

Oxford project

The Oxford Project

Here's something really cool http://oxfordproject.com

In the spring and summer of 1984, Peter Feldstein used a red marker to make a sign announcing that he wanted to take free portraits of everyone in Oxford, Iowa (pop. 673).

Twenty-one years later, Peter set up his camera again. Some of the original residents had died and some had moved away, but a surprising number still lived in Oxford.

Basically the project is a amazing and surprising snapshot of how life in rural america was back then as compared to now.

Retrospect
i find it heart warming. esp the story about one of the residents that met her hubby in kindergarten ! wow......talk abt love @ first sight :p
This project is interesting in that it involves hopes, dreams and wishes as well as the unique perspective of hindsight. I mean how many of us, 20 yrs ago, set off to do something with ourselves and now, 20 yrs later, look back and see where we were, where we were SUPPOSED to go, and where we are now?

I remember that i always tot i will b successful by 30 and even married by 30. Well, looking back, career wise is pretty okay, i get to do what i want at my own time and still earn a respectable amt. Besides i'll b changing jobs soon and that's always something to look forward to.

I'm doing somethin that i've always wanted to do and thats dancing. Even better, i manage to somehow land myself in a position to actually go to a worldwide stage and perform :) So in that aspect i'm quite contented.

I'm happy i think. Could be happier. Some of my frens know my woes/complaints/"bitching" if you will... :p sorry peeps.. but realy thank you for listening to me and dispensing the same advice again and again ... lets see wat will happen b4 i hit 30.. there's still about 2 more months to go.. who knows wat will happen *trembles in anticipation*

First time @ brix. Lotsa lotsa foreigners. Lotsa lotsa pple still "working" there. Working meaning looking for clients at the place. So the environment is not as...."clean" as @ union though...

Which is bummer because the ambience was pretty good AND the band was EXCELLENT too !

Commitment....

COMMITMENT
a word that brings excitement, hope, future
a word that also brings fear, uncertainty, loss of freedom

a dash of commitment might be good in certain aspects of a life..
a dash of commitment brings opportunities, builds trusts as well as a different view of life as well :)

so who's afraid of a little commitment?

Wats yr ideal relationship? (hmm somewat true i suppose....)

Your Ideal Relationship is Marriage

You've dated enough to know what you want.
And that's marriage - with the right person.
You're serious about settling down some time soon.
Even if you haven't met the person you want to get hitched to!

hmmm this one's not necessarily true.... :(

Retro game

http://amigareviews.classicgaming.gamespy.com/muds.htm

M.U.D.S. Overcrowded prisons? The continent of Ghold has come up with a novel solution: get all those lazy convicts working to earn enough money to buy their freedom. There's a choice of four careers: stone breaking, gluing paper bags, being a medical guinea pig or playing MUDS.

hahahaah was playing this quite frequently in 1990 when it came out. remember this game lawrence? :p ah... happy simple days of yore :)

What kind of kisser r u? (this one.. not too sure if accurate or not... :p)

You're a Playful Kisser

Kissing is a huge game for you, a way to flirt and play
You're the first one to suggest playing spin the bottle at a party
Or you'll go for the wild kiss during a game of truth or dare
And you're up for kissing any sexy stranger if the mood is right!

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

What kind of seducer r u ? (wow.. pretty accurate)

Your Seduction Style: Au Natural

You rank up there with your seduction skills, though you might not know it.
That's because you're a natural at seduction. You don't realize your power!
The root of your natural seduction power: your innocence and optimism.

You're the type of person who happily plays around and creates a unique little world.
Little do you know that your personal paradise is so appealing that it sucks people in.
You find joy in everything - so is it any surprise that people find joy in you?

You bring back the inner child in everyone you meet with your sincere and spontaneous ways.
Your childlike (but not childish) behavior also inspires others to care for you.
As a result, those who you befriend and date tend to be incredibly loyal to you.

Where am i now ?

Question i ask everyday... where am i?
am i already in?
or am i still hovering in a holding pattern?

sigh.... i hate this limbo-tic existance...

help....!

Love monitor

come boys and gals, take this test http://www.lovemonitor.com/index.html

Tell me yr results :)

mine are as follows:

Are you Giving or Taking?

You are Giving. You are a generous, unselfish person. This does not refer specifically to money, but also to less tangible things like your time, your help and your emotional support. You'll be best-matched with someone who's opposite to you in this respect, so look for someone who's a Taker if you want to make your life complete. You're best matched with a Taker.

Are you Committed or Free?
You are Committed. You have a tendency to seek a relationship that is close, intimate and exclusive. This can be a beautiful thing, but you should avoid making it too clinging or possessive. Committed people like yourself are likely to be happiest with a partner who is also Committed. You're best matched with another Committed person.

Are you a Boss or a Slave?
You are Slave. It would seem that you derive pleasure from serving your partner and tending to their pleasure. Men often prefer to be the boss, and women to be the slave, but we can all think of notable reversals on this pattern. As a Slave, you'll almost certainly be most content in a relationship with someone who has a personality which is more dominant than yours. You're best matched with a Boss.

Are you Quiet or Exciting?
You are Quiet. In general you tend to be a quieter, retiring, introvert personality and you'll do best with someone else who is similarly inclined. You could therefore share subdued interests such as reading or golf. You're best matched with another Quiet person.

What happens when you combine 200 liters of Diet Coke and over 500 Mentos mints?

http://eepybird.com/dcm1.html

It's amazing and completely insane.

The first part of this video demonstrates a simple geyser, and the second part shows just how extreme it can get. Over one hundred jets of soda fly into the air in less than three minutes.

It's a hysterical and spectacular mint-powered version of the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas, brought to you by the mad scientists at EepyBird.com.

:P

LA & SF Part 3

Days in SF
so we flew to SF after all the fun we have in LA. Immediately upon touch down our intrepid leader wen ai set about callnig and organising tours whilst the rest of us plan other stuff. Some went on the tour ard sf and we planned to meet @ Queen Anne Hotel for a Ghost HUnt (which some of them have seen on Discovery Travel and Adventure Channel). The hotel was a pretty spooky place as they refurbish it like in the old days. All maroon and wood. Our tour guide himself certainly dressed for the occasion. Overall, the night was chilly and left many shivering and wishing for less wind shear. The stories he shared were pretty interesting but i think the ghost stories we tell in Singapore r probably more frightening. He showed us 2 "haunted" items but the more alert ones amongst us could tell thru his... facade. Anyway.. in general it was a unique experience and a way to see the residential areas of SF from a different angle :P

Next day we decided to escape SF and rented a car to drive to napa valley. this was a first for me as I had never driven in SF before and i accidentally rented a huge-assed premium car. But the trip was pretty cool. we get to drink some wine, ate at a nice culinary institute (dun play play) and generally had a good fun. I almost ALMOST langa cos i din understand the american STOP (4 way) sign. heeheh.... but well... thankfully i din. Met up with Yvonne and Andy who came wif ADS and went to Top of the Mark. Pretty cool place to chill but it was jazz night so we din dance salsa but had drinks. Decided to come tomorrow :)

Wednesday we took a tour to YOSEMITE ! Water fall, rocks, grass, trees, water fall, rocks, grass, trees... pretty soon it became a snoozefest whien we r traveling on the road. Went to see big sequoia trees but a little disappointing. Was pretty tired @ the end of the trip but we stil went Top of the Mark. Saw the salsa scene. Most of the ladies are pretty newbies but the guys are quite exspurts. 2 of them even knew wendy and jean and one of them asked carol to go out the nxt day. Talk abt daring ! hahaha

Thursday was a day of shopping. And the gals demolished their purses man. heheh then we met up and went to pig out at Cheesecake Factory @ MACYs. Really nice place to eat as we sat outside. AFter which we contemplated going to Cocomo but felt nua so we went back to rooms and slept instead.

Friday nothing much except take a taxi to airport. Ride back was kinda restless as there was nothing else much to watch on the telly. Watched Monster Inc. again and it never fails to make me laugh :)

Then touch down and back to sg ! tra la la

LA & SF part 2

Other days spent in congress
well the other days we spent on workshops. Workshops were pretty fun. Met lotsa other people from all over the world. I mostly attended a bachata class and lifts and tricks and dips. Learnt something different in bachata and yoyo and fish lifts. Pretty fun though probably can only showcase during choreos and not on the dance floor. cHA Cha was too cheem for me... couldnt catch but the guy teaching was good. Wanted to learn Rhumba but the class got cancelled last minute.
I attended Al Liquid Silver's class and we learnt this simple dip step. Then he wanted 2 pairs of volunteers to compete and he will give a free DVd. I jumped. Literally. Probably cos i was wearing the two-left-feet tshirt wif the gold feet logo that attracted his attention. So i did the simple routine and won! AhAhaha... many thanks to Melissa from SF that was my partner that day :)
The nights were then spent watching performances and trying to dance. I mean tryin because we were pretty zoned out after watching so many performances (some good, some bad) that we get very lazy to dance. Hehehe... added to that the crowding and stamping and jabbing on the dancefloor deters us from really enjoying the dance.
In anycase, all in all, it was a pretty good experience to be @ the congress. Maybe we can go other country's congresses nxt time ? I'm hoping Japan. I heard Japan has the largest salsa scene in Asia (plus i've never been to japan yet)

to be continued...

LA Congress (as best as i can remember :P ) part 1

Day 1
Arrived. Went Hilton. WOw.. nice place... wait a minute.. our names are not there? why not ? *puzzled*...oh we are suppose to be staying @ Crowne Plaza hotel instead? Wat the hell ? *not happy*

Went crowne plaza, settled in... went to nearby Carl's Jr to have lunch. Walked around, take some pictures, buy groceries. Booked limo and went to Steven's Steakhouse (well known food and salsa joint). Had dinner (NICEEEEEEEEE).. then danced some salsa. It was like a mini-pre-pre congress party. There were many good dancers there and one of the australian Contingent (braveheart) performed a braveheart inspired salsa performance. Quite cool. Saw Edie dancing. She's really fast.... and saw Alex De Silva with his partner. She's very very nimble and nubile. Go back.. sleeeeep..

Day 2
Went to Santa Monica beach via bus. SUposedly to attend the pre congress beach party.. but we went to the wrong beach (or wrong part). then we had to rush to this CC to practise. We din have car so we had to call a cab to take us bac after the practise. Little did we know that it was a DANGEROUS neighbourhood to be in. A nice family drove up and stayed with us to keep us company. They mentioned that just earlier in the afternoon someone got shot at the park. So you can imagine how big our eyes were after that. Pretty lucky we had them nice pple to keep us company.

Day 3 (thurs)
Performance day ! hahahah.... we actually went to holly wood to walk around before our afternoon practise. then we suddenly received information that we had to go there earlier to register (get a photo and pass) and then for practise. so we scrambled in taxis back and went to SALSA LAND. How's salsa land like ? well.. its a few huge tents and gathering of pple selling salsa stuff and huge stages and dance floors. Pretty interesting setup. We did a 1 x trial on the actual stage (which was very fast ) After that rush back to eat , last minute preps and start to change and prepare for performance.
Finally we reached salsa land and we were briefed on wats going to happen... then its a bit more waiting and nervous preparing and watching the others perform.. then its OUR TURN ! WOOHOO......
SO it began..and then its over as soon as it began ! So fast ! we had good supporters in the crowd but it was not a full crowd. And with that, its all over !
THen we had fun dancing the rest of the night was really fun.. hehehe... but dancing in LA has its unique quirks.
The dancers are way different than in Singapore and i feel i need to put in more effort. However if i were a gal, i would be in heaven. The male dancers are SO SO SO SO SO good..its like salsa heaven for me if i were a female. As a guy, well i guess most of the gals in SG r already of a very good standard..so i guess i have to do lotsa improving on my part to reach the standards shown @ LA :(

i am back !! :P

yay ! touched down in good ole' sg again. Flight entertainment was boring this time but MOnster Inc never fail to bring a smile to my face :)

Anyhoo.. lotsa stuff to do..

1) prep for interview (last one on mon.. cross fingers)
2) read offer letter
3) start editing and posting pics online (i already did my cursory pic glance)
4) prepare photo editing for GE life competition and New paper big walk competition
5) re-connect bac into people's network

:D

pics coming up soon !

Peektures from my W810i of my LA trip !

awwww all the cute duckies !! :P

View of Yosemite Park

Wide Wide view of the wineyard we visited....

Our tour in a popular wineyard...

View of SF bay from top of Lombard Hill (shaq climb)

Dancing in the medium tent of the congress (PACKED! and CHILLY!)

Having a nice jap dinner (break from all the burgers) in Japantown in downtown LA

Pre-Congress Party @ Marriot

i am still alive!

currently in SF downtown apple shop using a huge ass macbook pro and their free internet ! hehhe.... so glad i din spend $$ to use the stp hotel internet (ard usd$10 for 1 hr!! so expensive)

anyway i have tons of stuff to tell and tons of pics to upload ! i cant wait ! can u ? :P

in summary
1) salsa congres was pretty exciting. was very interesting to dance and watch and learn. Though i much prefer the dancing culture in sg as we respect our own and other dancer's spaces. In LA, i get stepped, elbowed and was a ultimately stressful experience :(
2) Peeps that i travelled with were fun and lotsa things hapened. Haahahaha.. but cant get into details ... else get witch-hunted !
3) Tours in SF and LA were pretty laid back and relaxed.. actually drove to Napa valley and had wine ! COOOOL....
4) I bet i have lotsa things waiting for me back in SG. Work, Potential change in fortunes and of cos, peeps i miss bac in SG :)

*hugs*
